Finding A Perfect Ab Exercise Machine

Anyone serious about building perfect abs should consider buying an ab exercise machine from one of the dozens of different machines on the market today. The only really important considerations when buying an ab fitness machine are how well it works and how expensive it is.

The best ab exercise machines isolate the abdominal muscles from the rest of the body in order to tone them specifically, so you want to look for machines that force you to do crunch or situp style exercises. There are two basic types of abs machines on the market. One is a simple resistance trainer device, small enough that you can store it in a closet or under the bed. The other type of ab exercise machine is much larger and closer to what you'd find in a gym, with a padded flat board attached to the equipment.

The simple ab workout machines are the cheapest by far, but that doesn't mean they aren't effective. A great example of this machine is the 6 Second Ab Machine, sold online and at stores. This ab exercise machine rests on your legs while you do crunches over it; the tension inside the machine gives you a great workout in just a few minutes each day. In addition to the machine, you get a complete exercise plan on DVD and books to help plan out your diet and exercise regimen, all for much less than the large ab exercise machines. The drawback is that, because this machine is designed to work based on your bending over at the waist, you probably won't get a great workout for your lower abs, so this might only be a good home workout device while you maintain a gym membership elsewhere.

The larger ab exercise machines include the Yukon Ab Machine, the Ab and Back Machine, and the Ab Crunch Machine. All these machines look similar and take up a serious amount of floor space in your home. Which should you get?

The Yukon Ab Machine takes up a little more space than the others. It's very versatile, with lots of different options for exercise, and it should last you quite a while. It also gives your back muscles a good workout while you're improving your abs.

The Ab and Back Machine takes up less space, but may not give you quite as good a workout. Forward motion is easy, but there's less leaning back, which means your lower abs may not get as good a workout as they should. Like the Yukon Ab Machine, this ab exercise machine will also give your back a good workout.

The Ab Crunch Machine is good for isolating your different muscle groups, but like the other machine, it's based around crunch-type exercises and does not give your lower abdominals quite as good a workout as you would get in a gym. It's an excellent machine overall, however.

There is one other type of ab exercise machine you may be considering: the electronic ab machines, the kind you strap around your waist and allow the electric stimulation do all the work. They simply don't work. Period. Currently, the FTC is investigating several companies that make these ab exercise machines because of the large numbers of complaints. Just stick with good old fashioned working out instead. There is no easy way to a hard body.

The best ab machine is the one that suits your needs and works well for you. Price isn't everything; you may need a large sturdy ab exercise machine, or you may have limited space and a gym membership and so need a small machine. Take your own needs into consideration before anything else.
